Hello, i had adobe flash on my computer and a friend 'cleaned' my computer and it is no longer there. I tried installing adobe 10 but my mac is 10.3.9 - so I had to inunstall it, which worked and then downloaded adobe flash 9 - it downloaded but when I click on it on my desktop a box pops up that says there is no default application to open the document 'installflashplayer.exe.' I can click on 'choose applications', but I have no idea what I am looking for. Can someone please tell me what to do, as if you were speaking to a 5 year old?
I am so not computer savvy! I have no idea why I can't install it as I did before. Thanks so much linda.
I have been reading over all of your situations. I am also running Mac OS X 10.3.9. To install Adobe Flash Player 9, I find it best to download the.dmg file (select Flash Player 9 from the drop down list).
Once file is downloaded open the.dmg file. It should open as a removable disk image. Double click on your hard drive (Macintosh HD, or what ever else you may have named it) and click on Library Internet Plug-Ins. You may find Flash Player.plugin and flashplayer.xpt already in there. Click and drag those to the trash, and click and drag the two files from the.dmg into the Internet Plug-Ins folder. Make sure they stay just in the Plug-Ins folder and not a sub folder. If that doesn't work open your hard drive again.
This time click on Users. Select what user you are, A house icon will appear next to the name rather than a folder icon.
Select Libray. Then select Internet Plug-Ins. Click and drag the two files from the.dmg file and place them in the Plug-Ins folder.
If you are still having problems please email me at [email protected] Hope this helps. Thank you so much for your solution! After MONTHS of trying to puzzle this out, your directions were an answer to prayer! Just in case anyone is like me and needs a hand-holding explanation, let me say. Click the 'Select Version to Download' menu and select 9 for Mac OS X 10.1 - 10.3 3. Click Agree and Install now 4. Select SAVE TO DISC 5.
Quit any browsers you have open. Double click on the 'install flash player 9.dmg' file that has shown up on your desktop. You'll see something running on your computer, and then a window will open that says Flash Player.
I had been here before, and this is the part where I NEVER understood what to do! In the window you'll see four boxes and two arrows. What did the arrows mean????? I'd double click on the box that said Flash Player plug in, but then would get messages that my computer didn't know what program to use to open the file. HERE'S the ANSWER!!!
The arrows mean to click on the box at the left and then to literally DRAG and DROP the material INTO THE PLUG-INS FOLDER in the box at the right. Do this for the two files. Seriously, that's all you have to do!
Close the window. Do a restart of your computer. Go to youtube and test it out!
This solution worked for me, and I am so grateful for your help!
